Centre for Advancement of Sustainable Medical Innovation (CASMI)

The Centre for Advancement of Sustainable Medical Innovation (CASMI) is a partnership between Oxford University and UCL, created to develop new models for medical innovation.

CASMI aims to address the issues that have led to current failures in the translation of basic bioscience into affordable and widely adopted new treatments.

CASMI provides independent thought leadership and convening power by conducting world-class academic research and practically implementing it through our policy and impact team. Our mission is to, a) Bring together multiple disciplines and stakeholders to tackle major issues such as value, regulation, adherence and the translation of advanced therapies, b) Advise governments and other bodies on the relevant public policy and regulatory issues to stimulate and develop the life sciences sectors and, c) Position the patient perspective at the centre of all CASMI work.

Our expertise covers:

  • Regulatory affairs
  • Health economics
  • Improving multi-sectorial collaborations
  • Evaluating impact and value creation
  • Adaptive licensing
  • Psychosocial and behavioural response to treatment
  • Ethics

One of many benefits that companies can gain through consultancy is through independent advice on public policy, influencing efficient healthcare spending and the life sciences field itself. This is increasingly important in the translation of basic bioscience into affordable and widely adopted new treatments.
