NERC Follow-on Fund & Innovation Projects

Previously known as KE projects call

This is a ‘proof of concept’ fund to support commercialisation of ideas arising from research funded by the NERC, enabling research programme and discovery science grant research outputs to be further developed to realise their commercial potential. The Follow-on Fund runs in parallel with the Innovation Projects call.

Applicants' Technology Transfer Offices are invited to contact NERC to discuss possible applications before a proposal is put together. The maximum amount that can be bid for is £125k (80% full economic cost). A Follow-On Grant enables researchers who have a sound understanding of the market opportunity for their intellectual property to execute a defined programme of work of around a year in length that has clearly defined and complementary technical and commercial milestones.

Applications Procedure:

Following preliminary Pathfinder or other independent market analysis work, subsequent applications to the NERC Follow-on Fund should be submitted through the Je-S system.
