The collaboration will be based on advanced technologies in a number of areas such as IT, biotechnology and nano-technology, and also academic knowledge about cultural and social sciences owned by the University of Oxford.

Mitsui & Co. (Mitsui Europe) has recently made an investment in Oxford BioSensors Ltd: a company spun out from the University of Oxford in 2000. Mitsui is also working with Oxford University Innovation and the University of Oxford – one of the leading universities in the world, to establish further collaborations and partnerships with the academic community at the University, in areas of mutual interest including business on social studies in Japan.

Mr David Holmes, Registrar of the University, commented: “the collaboration between Mitsui and Isis is an excellent example of the way in which business can work with Universities to introduce advanced products and services into new markets, and I wish it every success in the future. The University very much hopes that this initiative will lead to a broader collaboration between our two organisations”.
