Dr Richard Auburn

Richard has a joint honours degree in Microbiology-Genetics (Aberdeen) and a PhD in Genetics (Cambridge). Before joining Oxford University Innovation in 2015, Richard worked on genomics projects that spanned academic research in genome structure to developing commercial molecular diagnostic assays. These projects were multinational collaborations that entailed working in multidisciplinary teams to implement genetic, molecular and informatics solutions. Commercial projects simultaneously involved obtaining key opinion leader input, establishing quality management systems, and supervising/supporting external development partners.

Richard’s interests and projects encompass genetics, genomics and software for health, industrial biotechnology, and agriculture. Richard is a member of the Licencing & Ventures team in OUI and is responsible for making research a reality through licencing and creating new companies. Richard is a board observer and a director for spinout companies. Richard is a mental health first aider and a neurodiversity ED&I advocate.
