Werther Vecchiato

Werther joined Oxford University Innovation in July 2021 as an Assistant Licensing & Ventures Manager (ALVM), and he is working within the life sciences team. As an ALVM, Werther provides support across the technology transfer process, through initial assessment of projects, to IP protection and market engagement. He assists Licencing and Ventures Managers with licensing technologies to industry, supporting translational funding applications and working together with academics starting their own spinout companies.

Werther grew up in Italy, and obtained an MChem degree (1st, Hons) in ‘Chemistry with Biochemistry’ from Heriot-Watt University (UK). He also has a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences from the University of Birmingham (UK), which investigated the molecular regulation of angiogenesis, the process of blood vessel growth. While at Birmingham, he was exposed to and grew passionate about academical technology transfer, and decided to join OUI straight after completion of his PhD studies.
