Oxford Sciences Innovation, which will provide capital and scaling expertise to Oxford spinouts, has now raised £320m from investors including billionaire Charles Dunstone, who launched Carphone Warehouse, and Google Ventures.

Demis Hassabis, of artificial intelligence pioneer DeepMind and Tom Hulme and Dr Krishna Yeshwant, of Google Ventures, will join OSI’s advisory board as part of the deal.

The fund, which was launched in May by the University of Oxford and Oxford University Innovation, is believed to be the world’s largest university venturing fund. It was aiming to raise £300m, and has closed, oversubcribed.
