Rachel Abernethy is the Social Ventures Lead at OUI. She enables Oxford University research, staff and students to have broader impact by supporting the 21 social ventures in the OUI portfolio, and those in the pipeline, with business planning, customer acquisition, grant writing, fundraising, corporate governance, theory of change, impact measurement, and team development. She also leads ImpactU, which is investing £1m of seed funding into 26 social ventures from English universities by the end of 2025, and providing free, virtual training to anyone interested in social entrepreneurship. Her previous experience is in managing ClimateTech and HealthTech entrepreneurship education programmes at the Africa-Oxford Initiative and Creative Destruction Lab.
