Routes to success

Oxford University Innovation works in partnership with researchers

Working across the breadth and depth of all University divisions, we provide researchers with advice and support on any matter concerning the commercialisation of research and expertise.

Our Licensing & Ventures team works with University staff and students to identify, protect and market technologies and other research outputs through licensing, venture formation, and material sales, and manages the University’s intellectual property portfolio. We fund patent applications and legal costs, negotiate licensing and spinout company agreements, and provide access to translational investment funds for the development of technologies.

Our Consulting Services team facilitates a professional consultancy service which enables Oxford University academics and departments to share their knowledge and facilities with government, industry and the public sector, to drive change and make a direct impact on society.

Support for entrepreneurship

Got a great idea but not sure if it’s a spinout yet? Get advice and support from a variety of sources through Oxford University. Visit the ‘Develop my business’ page for further information.

Research Services works in partnership and with colleagues across the University to provide comprehensive support to researchers across the research life-cycle.

This service:

  • supports the grant process

  • negotiates contracts and agreements

  • advises on costing and pricing of research

Knowledge Exchange (KE)

Wider engagement with society is one of Oxford’s core strategic objectives.

KE and impact (the demonstrable contribution that excellent research makes to society and the economy) lead the government agenda on higher education, and are of keen interest to other research funders and industry.

The Knowledge Exchange and Impact Team (KEIT) within Research Services supports, promotes and coordinates KE and impact activities across the University, including the KE Network.

Business Development Team, Medical Science Division

Business Development Medical Sciences is a team of dedicated business development and partnership managers offering industrial partners a single point of access to Oxford’s researchers as well as to NHS resources through our partnership with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUHT).

The Business Development Medical Sciences team works with scientists and industrial partners to identify areas of strategic research alignment and to promote and facilitate both clinical and pre-clinical collaborative research projects.

Industrial Research Partnerships team

Oxford has uniquely broad and deep research capabilities and is keen to work collaboratively with businesses and other organisations to deploy this to the benefit of society and all involved.

Across the University, numerous interactions and collaborations exist between companies and researchers, including:

  • collaborative research projects
