Louise Slater

Louise Slater is Professor of Hydroclimatology in the School of Geography and the Environment and Fellow of Hertford College at the University of Oxford.

She serves as Associate Head (Research and Impact) for the Social Sciences Division, Academic Director of the MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management (WSPM), and Co-investigator of Intelligent Earth, the University’s Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for the Environment. Professor Slater heads the Hydro-Climate Extremes research group, which pioneers innovative computational approaches to assess changing water and weather extremes.

Externally, she is Chair of the Hydrological Forecasting Subdivision of the European Geosciences Union, Editor for Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (HESS) and Associate Editor for Earth’s Future. She was previously Chair of the Oxford Water Network.

Professor Slater holds a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the University of St Andrews and is a Future Leaders Fellow (FLF) of UK Research and Innovation.
