Applications: Carbon sequestration, urban air purification, green building architecture, industrial and corporate offsetting, transport and mobility hubs

BioSeq Technologies, in collaboration with Oxford University engineers, have developed a carbon sequestration unit for highly efficient atmospheric carbon dioxide removal using cheap, sustainable and natural resources.

Features Benefits
  • The system uses a compact, helical coil design with fine mesh structure.
  • This maximises the surface area available for moss growth within a very small physical space.
  • Ideal for use where land constraints exist and in dense urban infrastructure
  • The structure is engineered to optimise water retention, airflow, and nutrient delivery.
  • Ensures vigorous and sustained moss growth with low maintenance, in variable environmental conditions.
  • The design supports dense layering of moss biomass without sacrificing air circulation or sunlight penetration.
  • A higher biomass per unit volume significantly boosts the rate of CO2 absorption and pollutant filtration, making the system far more efficient than flat green walls or plotted plants.
  • Once moss reaches maturity, it can be harvested and processed for bioenergy via pyrolysis.
  • Permanently fixates the sequestered carbon into biochar, preventing it re-entering the atmosphere.
  • Each unit is modular, lightweight, and easy to install across different surfaces and at multiple scales.
  • From installations in and upon civil infrastructure to large-scale sequestration plants, the system is flexible, cost-effective, and rapidly deployable.
  • Suitable for both small pilot projects and citywide and rural implementation.
