Fast rotation of the rotary element inside the external casing leads to intermittent alignment of the two slits so gas from inside the rotary element can escape.

Well-defined slot geometry	Can shape the gas flow consistently, achieving a reproducible density profile
Larger opening is possible (cm scale)	So can operate at higher pressures and closer to active areas, such as points of laser interaction
Short jet opening time	Allows for fast repetition times that can be synchronised with other features in the system, such as the laser with a Laser Wakefield Accelerator, and low gas load in the chamber
