Catalysing innovation: Oxford Innovation Society unveils a new programme
23rd January 2024
Oxford University Innovation announces the much-anticipated relaunch of the Oxford Innovation Society (OIS). With an ambitious 12-month programme of events, OIS aims to fortify connections between Oxford’s companies, investors, industry partners and the vibrant Oxford entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The reinvigorated OIS will introduce a series of events tailored to the diverse needs of our community. For those seeking investment opportunities or looking to engage with key players in the Oxford ecosystem, the Investor Forums will serve as crucial platforms for discovering new opportunities.
OIS Breakfasts are designed as fast-paced sessions where spinouts and partners can address company challenges or industry can meet with technology founders developing our latest licences. Informative OIS Business Bites provide workshops on issues relating to legal, financial, marketing and core business functions for young companies — each OIS event will be crafted to empower Oxford’s companies on their growth journey; highlight licensing opportunities; or connect industry and academia for consulting or collaboration.
Meanwhile, the OIS Annual Networking Event promises to bring together a broad spectrum of Oxford’s ecosystem constituents, fostering network formation, connection and business growth.
As a highlight of the annual calendar, the OIS Gala Dinner will continue to offer a three-course meal in the hallowed halls of an Oxford College. This exclusive event will provide an opportunity for members to unwind, connect, and celebrate collective achievements.
The OIS launch event is scheduled from 18:00 – 20:00 on Thursday, February 22nd in the stunning Weston Library, central Oxford. OUI’s Chair, Nicola Blackwood, will welcome guests together with our keynote speaker Melissa di Donato, CEO of Kyriba and Non-Executive Director at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology in April 2023.
If you’re interested in attending on February 22nd and becoming an OIS member to connect with industry, academic founders and partners please contact louise.male@innovation.ox.ac.uk .
In a rapidly evolving landscape where collaboration is key, the OIS relaunch promises to be a catalyst for innovation. The society is under new leadership at OUI with Andrea Stewart and Louise Male, both bringing their passion for building networks and galvanising partnerships.
In lock-step with the OIS relaunch, OUI will attend several industry conferences during 2024, including BioTrinity in April; BIO International Convention, San Diego in June; and the Jefferies Investor conference in November.
We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events. Together, let’s build a stronger innovation community in Oxford.
