New generic health outcome measure – The Oxford Participation and Activities Questionnaire (OxPAQ)
9th August 2016
The Oxford Participation and Activities Questionnaire (OxPAQ) is a new generic Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) measure designed and developed to assess the impact of ill-health on participation, activities and autonomy.
The OxPAQ is theoretically grounded in the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) and (unlike other generic PRO measures) is fully compliant with current best practice guidelines, such as those published by the FDA.
The OxPAQ is a short, 23-item, patient self-report measure that has already been shown to be a valid and reliable measure of participation and activities in three neurological conditions; motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. Further work is underway to assess the measurement properties of the OxPAQ in other conditions.
