About Lord Drayson
Lord Drayson is the Science Minister, attends Cabinet and Chairs the Science and Innovation Committee. He was the founding MD of Oxford spin-out Powderject in the 1990’s and a frequent visitor to Isis from 2000-2003 as a member of the Oxford University Challenge Seed Fund Board.
During his visit he was introduced to two new spin-out companies formed in November 2008, smart metering company Intelligent Sustainable Energy and organ transplantation specialist Organox. He also received an update from Oxitec, a 2002 spin-out developing effective and environment-friendly techniques to control insect pests, and an introduction to a new lightweight electric motors project, important for hybrid vehicles and renewable energy applications.
Lord Drayson said: “I’ve followed Isis’ success closely throughout the years. Having my own experience of developing science spin outs at Oxford, I know how important technology transfer companies like Isis are in bringing together the worlds of university research, business and finance. I look forward to seeing their development in the future”.
