Now in its eighth year, Venturefest is a leading UK enterprise forum delivering guidance and essential resources for start-ups, fast-growth and middle market companies.
Oxford Venturefest’s format comprises keynote speakers, how-to workshops, seminars and networking activities, aimed at providing comprehensive, professional advice and support for the entrepreneur, alongside access to potential funding.
Oxford University Innovation Ltd is chairing two of the sessions. The first on Monday 3rd July from 14.30 – 17.00 on ‘University Inventions’ and the second session titled ‘Essential People Skills’ is on Tuesday 4th July from 9.30 – 12.30.
University Inventions
This session has been a feature of Oxford Venturefest since it started and always offers an exciting glimpse into the world of university inventions. The session will include presentations of the latest technologies, which are either about to be commercialised or have been launched in spinout companies. We plan to include descriptions of inventions from life sciences and physical sciences as well as offering a chance to discuss their potential with their inventors. The speakers will include both university researchers and their commercialisation partners.
Essential People Skills
All business activities are undertaken by people and most business failures are attributable to people. Even if your products, markets and investors are perfect the business will fail unless you work effectively with the right people. The session will be introduced and chaired by Tim Cook of Oxford University Innovation and Said Business School, with presentations from experienced practitioners focusing on: getting the right job: recruiting the right people; dealing with the other people; and the essential guide to the legals.
