Since 1997, Oxford University Innovation has been responsible for creating over 200 new technology companies based on academic research generated within and owned by the University of Oxford, and has spun-out a new company every two months on average.
The creation of these new companies channels millions of pounds back into University research, benefits local economic development and has created many new jobs in the region.
Oxford University Innovation constantly offers investors the opportunity to finance new companies formed to develop and commercialise technology and intellectual property generated at the University of Oxford – the biggest research-based university in the UK, with research income of £653m in 2020/21.
The ‘dreaming spires of Oxford’ are known around the world as a haven for learning. To share the benefits of this academic excellence, Oxford University Innovation also endeavours to excel at identifying, protecting and finding commercial partners and investors for ideas that will make a difference.
Many of the spinouts will require follow on investment. Our Investments and New Ventures team looks after the University’s shareholdings in the spinout portfolio and would be glad to hear from investors interested in these opportunities.
