New Liverpool University Neuroleptic Side Effect Rating Scale (LUNSERS) available from Isis Outcomes
13th August 2015
A new health outcomes questionnaire has been developed by researchers within the University of Liverpool to indicate the extent of side-effects experienced by patients medicated with neuroleptic drugs.
Neuroleptic medication is the most widely used treatment for schizophrenic disorders but it is associated with a wide range of side-effects which may affect individuals’ biological, psychological, sexual and social functioning. The acknowledgement and assessment of neuroleptic side-effects therefore constitutes an important part of the clinical management of psychotic illnesses.
The Liverpool University Neuroleptic Side Effect Rating Scale (LUNSERS) is a comprehensive self-administered scale consisting of 41 miscellaneous side-effect items and additional 10 ‘red-herring’ items which helped to check validity of results. LUNSERS is completed by the patient and can be easily administered by members of various health care disciplines without specialist training.
The LUNSERS and other Oxford Health Outcomes questionnaires are available from Isis Outcomes.
Oxford University Innovation Limited is exclusively licensed to grant permissions to use the Liverpool University Neuroleptic Side Effect Rating Scale (LUNSERS).
