The Oxford Knee Score - Activity and Participation Questionnaire (OKS-APQ) is a Patient Reported Outcome Measure designed and validated to supplement the Oxford Knee score as an additional scale.

A new health outcomes questionnaire has been developed by researchers within the Health Services Research unit, part of the Nuffield Department of Population Health, and the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) at the University of Oxford.

‘Whilequotation marks the alleviation of pain remains the most important indication for total knee replacement (TKR) and is most closely associated with post-operative satisfaction, many patients with symptoms from the knee, irrespective of age, participate in social and recreational activities including sports that they expect to resume following knee replacement.’ –  says Professor Jill Dawson, co-author of the questionnaire, Associate Professor in the Nuffield Department of Population Health HSRU (University of Oxford).

The OKS-APQ is a self-report, 8-item PRO, simple assessment tool designed to be used in conjunction with the OKS and unlike the latter, is not recommended to be used as a stand-alone instrument. It incorporates important additional issues raised by relatively younger or more active patients.

The OKS-APQ and other Oxford Health Outcomes questionnaires are available from Isis Outcomes.

Isis Outcomes is an activity within Technology Transfer at Oxford University Innovation Ltd, dedicated to the provision and support of the highest quality PROs for healthcare providers and the medical product industry.
