Aurox Ltd has won a 2012 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation for designing and manufacturing novel equipment for optical microscopy.

Spun-out from Oxford University by Oxford University Innovation, Aurox was created to exploit the pioneering work carried out in the Scanning Optical Microscopy Group at the Department of Engineering Science. Four of the original researchers from this group are actively involved in the running of the company.

The 2012 Queen’s Award recognises Aurox’s development of new equipment which is easily added to the camera port of any microscope, and provides an economical approach for the high speed acquisition of high quality images of thin sections within thick specimens. It is particularly useful in applications in the life sciences where high-resolution, artifact-free images of dynamic processes may be obtained with high light efficiency.

For more information see the Aurox website.
