First Isis Course on Innovation Management in Australia Announced

Oxford University Innovation, the technology transfer company of the University of Oxford, will be working with CEDA for the first time to deliver an Innovation Management Masterclass, aimed at delivering an in-depth understanding of key innovation management principles, tools and management techniques.

The Innovation Management Masterclass is based on Oxford University Innovation’s international experience managing and advising on technology transfer. Dr David Baghurst, an internationally renowned speaker who heads Oxford University Innovation’s operation in Asia, will deliver this workshop in Adelaide.

Oxford University Innovation is the highest University patent filer in the UK, has attracted investment into 70 spin-out companies since 2000, and in the last financial year provided expertise to over 150 clients in 22 countries. Through the Isis Enterprise division, Isis offers innovation management to university, government and industrial clients around the world.

Dr Baghurst completed his academic training at Oxford University after which he took an academic post at Imperial College, London. He then undertook a number of roles in industry running advanced research initiatives before joining The Oxford Trust as Director of Industrial Programmes in 1996, supporting the creation and growth of high tech companies and encouraging technology business networks. Dr Baghurst has an MBA from Warwick Business School and joined Isis in July 2002.

The Workshop will deliver a mix of case studies and practical workshops to demonstrate best-practice based on the work of one of the world’s leading innovation organisations, aimed at a wide variety of industries, with a particular focus on the Advanced Manufacturing Sector, with key business leaders delivering case studies across Modules.

The innovation management training program will be targeted at CEOs, owners, managers, inventors and high level decision makers in industrial companies, providing a combination of top level strategy, practical guides to managing innovation, tools to generate new ideas and generating good proposals.

The Masterclass will be run over 2 days from 21 August 2013 and includes networking drinks.  The workshop will be limited to 40 delegates.
