Specialist expertise:

• Multidisciplinary consulting
• Due diligence & quality assurance
• Services & facilities

Working with clients to address their specific problems Oxford University Consulting (OUC) provides specialist expertise helping to resolve such problems while also stimulating the creation of new ideas. In this way OUC involvement offers its clients the possibility of creating new intellectual property.  This typically occurs serendipitously via the interaction of OUC and client experts.    For example, while recently addressing a specific problem for Sharp Laboratories of Europe,OUC sourcedconsultants spotted the potential for new IP, which in due course it is anticipatedthat the client will be able to exploit commercially.

While specialist expertise from a particular discipline often assists in the resolution of a specific and focused problem, clients sometimes benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to address broader based strategic issues, eg combining clinical and economic expertise to improve healthcare processes.

Rather than the resolution of a specific problem, clients often seek an independent assessment, or review, of their work and plans. For example, they may want a specialist contribution to an existing review panel/ advisory board.  On other occasions the requirement may be for an in-depth assessment of a proposed technology or idea, eg as a part of a proposed business plan, or to support a wider due diligence process.

In addition to providing access to University experts, Oxford University Consulting (OUC) also arranges access to Oxford’s vast array of technical facilities and equipment (eg for electron microscopy, crystallographic diffraction, protein purification etc.).  The use of such facilities often requires the services of experienced technicians as well as the guidance/ direction of an appropriate academic in the overall design of tests/ experiments.  OUC will not only source the right facilities, but also provide a complete support service, involving academic experts and technicians as required.
