Third Phase Limited Merges with Cmed Group
10th October 2005
Third Phase Limited, a high-tech company spun out from Oxford University's Department of Engineering Science and now based on the Cambridge Science Park, is pleased to announce that it has merged with the Cmed Group Ltd, opening up tremendous development opportunities for both companies.
Third Phase Limited is a leading edge software development company that has applied novel technological approaches to produce an excitingly different clinical trial data capture and data management system.
Cmed Group, consisting of Cmed Clinical Research Services and Cmed Pharmaceutical Contract Resourcing, has its global headquarters in West Sussex, UK and it’s USA headquarters in New Providence, New Jersey. It is a new style clinical services provider that aims to differentiate itself from its many competitors.
Dr Mark Holt, CEO of ThirdPhase, believes the combination of applying ThirdPhase’s innovative technical solutions with Cmed’s extensive pharmaceutical company experience has proved incredibly effective and having collaborated for 18 months joining Cmed seemed the natural next step.
The growth in demand for clinical trial data, the desire to reduce drug development lead times and the need for real time access to their valuable clinical trial data has led pharmaceutical companies to move towards direct electronic capture of clinical data from doctors’ clinics.
Dr David Connelly, CEO of the Cmed Group, believes that to be successful, an electronic data capture system must give real benefits to the doctors and their clinics. It should reduce their work, be able to take data straight from the patient to the computer, be as reliable as paper and be able to fit into the workflow of clinics.
The solution being developed by the new Group overcomes the inherent deficiencies of the current paper based systems, whilst providing a platform to successfully and seamlessly manage the transition from the tried, tested and accepted paper based systems to the new paperless methodolgy. Change management is an essential ingredient of the Group’s approach.
